What is IFAQH?
IFAQH stands for I Found A Quilted Heart, a random acts of kinds project.
Does anyone profit financially from this project?
No. We do not profit from IFAQH and we ask the no one else use the IFAQH project for profit in any way. This would include social media pages and companies creating or offering anything centered around IFAQH including contests, instructions, classes, heart patterns, free hearts with purchase, free kits with class registration, kits sold at cost, contests, etc.
Is IFAQH affiliated with any group or organization?
No. We strive to remain neutral and anonymous.
Where do I report a heart?
Hearts can be reported as found either on our website or our Facebook page – but please do not report on both. Also be aware that there are many Facebook pages claiming to be affiliated with IFAQH, but they are not. The link above is the only official Facebook page.
Do I need to “re-hide” the heart that I found?
No. You found it and it is meant for you to keep!
How do I know who made the heart that I found?
You won’t know. IFAQH is an anonymous project, it is not about the maker of the heart, it is about the finder.

Can I share a picture of the hearts I have made?
No. IFAQH is all about the finder, not the maker. The makers of the hearts always stay anonymous.
Do I have to add buttons or embellishment?
No, you don’t have to. If you choose to, remember that embellishments can not have any added words or symbols.
Can I add scriptures, crosses, or sentiments to my hearts?
No. Use one of the printable tags found on this page, and do not add any other words, symbols or numbers. This includes words and symbols on embellishments. We recommend you sew your tags on, or use a safety pin. Straight pins are not recommended as they can be sharp.
Can I put the heart in a bag to protect it from the elements?
Yes, that is ok. Laminating the tags is also ok. But neither are required.
Is there a pattern, directions, size for the hearts?
There is no pattern or directions on how to make a heart. Hearts are made out of fabric and cut out into a heart shape. Most are about the size of the palm of an adult’s hand and have a layer of batting or fiberfill between the two layers. However, there is no size requirement, make a size you feel comfortable with.
I don’t own a sewing machine or quilt, can I still participate?
Yes! Hearts can be hand sewn.
May I glue hearts?
No. Hearts need to be sewn.
May I crochet hearts?
No. Hearts need to be made of woven fabric. We suggest you look into the Peyton Heart project.
Can I create a quilt block with a heart in the square?
No, all hearts need to be cut out in a heart shape. See original heart for sample.
Can I add a pocket and include a gift with my heart?
No. The hearts do not have pockets and should not include gifts such as seeds, sachets, air fresheners, markers, etc.
Where can I sow a heart?
In a public place such as a park, local hiking trail, rest stop, town square, foyer, beach, tourist attraction, etc. Outdoor spots are best.
Where should I NOT sow a heart?
On personal property, private property, airports, national lands, retail stores, or bathrooms.
Can I give a heart to someone who I think needs one?
No. Hearts are not given or gifted to people or placed in a location for a specific person to find. They need to be left in a public place to be found by a random stranger.
Can I give people clues on where to find the hearts I left to be found?
No. Do not provide clues or use a scavenger hunt style for finding the quilted hearts. Hearts should not be used with geocaching nor should they be left in clusters, like a “giving tree.”
Why hasn’t the heart I placed been reported?
Not all found hearts will be reported, our guesstimate is 5% of all hearts sown are reported as found.
If you have added anything unapproved to your tag or heart, the heart will not be added to the website. Examples: numbers, initials, made with love, report me as found, please log this find, if you found me I’m yours, you are loved, etc.

If a heart is reported as found inside a bathroom or retail store, on personal property or gifted, it will not be posted.
