Oh sure they do that, sometimes. Just like AFK farmers press some actual keys, sometimes.

AFK farmers use bot or macros to farm. Too lazy to manually farm. Anet uses automation to check for AFK farmers/botter. Too lazy to manually check. They have something in common 😆

New afk timer affecting tonics

Lots of bugs involved in being idle. Does Anet still have QA or play testers? It seems the players are now doing most of the bug reporting that should have been easily caught during development. Also, AFK and BRB are not the same. For the Pro AFK farmers, defeating the timer is super easy and barely an inconvenience, and the players who BRB are the ones who get punished.

You can't really know they are afk. Sure they are not moving, but that is not enough to judge their afkness. They might be doing something else game related: chatting, inventory, tp, observing since it's their first time, etc etc. Quite common for some to be afk (ie watching Youtube) while playing, but that says more about the game being boring or got boring for playing the content too many times. The real challenge is game design: to design meta or whatever that is not very boring and can accomodate the lazy players . Auric Basic is great example: no one really cares if you afk or not, even trolls can only do so much to make it fail. Even if the meta fails, most players just let it go and move on. Implementing anti afk mechanics is useless, since like I said they are not really afk and more like lazy, and lazy players will always find a way to abuse the system.

Mounts are great on pre PoF content and very fun to use. On newer maps (even PoF) they made it so you don't get to enjoy it too much.

Are we stuck on Umbriel?

I myself have not logged in much after finishing the story. Nothing is fun in SotO, even EoD was not fun. I abandoned EoD when getting the turtle was such a waste of time. Even when turtle strike requirement was purchasable, I still did not bother with the turtle 😆 The most fun I had was PoF, that is were GW2 peaked IMO. Now, I feel I'm just passing time just doing things. GW2 needs some major GOOD changes for me to consider playing it again like I used to. Anyway, I might try Baldur's Gate 3, I heard that is a great game 😄

Hahaha true. You are never the Commander, you are the Choremmander (the Commander of chores). Part of your job as Choremander (in this case) is to babysit the egg , spend money to build stuff for it when it grows up, and to hand it over. Your reward? Well another chore (aka achievements) of course 🤣

I prefer core Tyria maps, they are beautiful AND performant, zero frame drops. Good luck getting a constant frame rate on these new maps. They look good on screenshots tho 😄 Edit: Tested on a 3080, looking at any building = 48 fps 😅

Why the namechange of Commander?

Everyone is talking about the rewards. One thing that this new daily killed is the social aspect of the old PVE dailies. Daily map events brings people together and have them talking on map chat, same with daily jp, mini dungeon and world boss.

Am I the only one not enjoying this expansion?

Not a fan too. Skyscale was great everywhere, but not on this new maps since navigation in general is a pain. PoF is the only real expansion Anet made, and the best in terms of price to content ratio. I know SotO is not done, but this should be a $10 expansion.

Aside from frame drops when there's too many players, complex maps and structures usually also result in low fps. GW2 engine cannot handle those hence the performance problem. Anet has chosen to have a good looking map at the expense of performance. The only solution is for Anet to design simpler maps (like core Tyria) yeah they are not going to do that.
