Why is my BankID not working? ›

The most common error is that your BankID has expired, or that something is wrong with the security app. The first step is to troubleshoot your BankID to see if it's working properly. Go to https://test.bankid.com and choose either Mobile BankID or BankID and follow the instructions.

No, for security reasons a blocked BankID can't be unblocked. Get a new BankID from your bank. I have changed phones, do I need to block BankID on my old phone? If you still have the old phone, you can first transfer your BankID to your new phone.

Trust levels for BankID

BankID is certified according to the Swedish e-ID quality mark at trust level three of four.

To get a new BankID digitally, your bank needs to offer digital verification of ID documents, you need to have a valid Swedish passport or national ID card from the Police and you need to have a phone with an NFC reader.

Please ensure you are using an up to date and fully supported browser to use Digital Banking. Make sure you have cleared temporary internet files and cookies and your browser has extensions and add-ons disabled. If needed, also try restarting your device and router, and try a wired connection.

Step 1 - Activating Bank ID on your mobile app

Open the BankID app and scan the QR code you see on the screen. Scan by pressing the QR icon and pointing the mobile at the QR code. The QR code is valid for 10 minutes. Enable and allow notifications.

Lost password, Mobile BankID and BankID on file

For BankID on file or Mobile BankID, there is no way to recover a lost password/security code. It is not saved in a readable format and can't be retrieved even if you still have your BankID. You need to get a new BankID from your bank.

It generally means that you have entered the password incorrectly three (3) times.

The main reasons accounts get blocked:

What is the validity of BankID? ›

A BankID may be valid for a maximum of 5 years, but it is the issuing bank that determines the validity of each issue. In the BankID app/program you can see how long a BankID is valid.

With your BankID, you can verify your identity with authorities and companies, for example when you e-declare in the Swedish Tax Agency's e-service, take care of matters in healthcare or at the Social Insurance Agency, access your online bank or pick up parcels.

The error message “Account Temporarily Unavailable” could mean there is a connection issue or the site has been taken down for maintenance. If you close the site and reopen it the message will usually go away, and you can continue with your transaction.
